Lefki Achilleos Wilson - Maiden name- Joannou
Aged 56
Passed away on 1st September 2007. Laid to rest on the 13th September.

My mother was born in Zaire 'The Beligum Congo in 1950 as her Cypriot parents set up business and home.

But came the crisis and her father was killed through the crisis of Jadotville protecting his family and business. Lefki had to go to relatives in Cyprus .Having lost her father and lost contact with her mother , she was also separated from her younger brother and two younger sisters when they arrived in Cyprus, my mum was sent to boarding school in Nicosia.

By 1967 Lefki came to the U.K with many exams under her wings one was a Degree in French. When arrived lefki went to Manchester to train as a nurse, but finally found a place at Wrexham hopstial.

Then I was born in January 1972, moving to Barbridge near Nantwich until 1979 we came to Crewe. Divorced in 1992, I was the only person mum had. Mum always stayed over weekends or a few days over the week at our home. She was my best friend.

Mum always worked in the care, until January 2006 as a care assistant for 7yrs at The Waldrons.

Then mum didn't look to good for some time and was given inhalers but I said 'no go to another Doctor' Mum did and we had the bad news of small cell lung cancer in March 2006 .My mother never complained just got on with life.Had the chemo for 6months, then Radio and a blood transfusion we had the bad news a week before Christmas and 5 days after 56 th brithday that the cancer had spread secondary to the brain.

That was the only time my mum looked frightened, nothing was said on the way home.Mum started a course of VACS injections in January,this just made her tired compared to the rest of the treatments.

My partner and I bought a caravan so we could take mum around but the last trip out was 7th- 13th June 2007, we had lovely hot weather ,but I noticed mum's balance wasn't too good over the break.

So Mum stayed at my house all the time, I cared for her 24/7,playing all her favorite music & eating everything naughty her favorite was 'Trifle' . I'm so glad I did what I did . It was tough but I know that I did everything that made mum comfortable and she passed away knowing that she was a great mum and dearly loved.

There is a big gap in my life now but I know, mum's in paradise now .


God saw you getting tired

And when I saw you sleeping

I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
